El pasado 27 de octubre se llevó a cabo el tercer concurso de deletreo 2023 en el Colegio Agustiniano Norte.
En el concurso participaron estudiantes de todos los cursos, incluyendo a los más pequeños, los niños de preescolar, quienes se lucieron deletreando palabras relacionadas con la naturaleza. Las categorías consideradas este año fueron cuatro: Pre-starters para los niños de jardín y transición, starters para los de grado primero y segundo, movers para los niños de los grados tercero, cuarto y quinto, flyers con la participación de los niños de sexto, séptimo y octavo, y finalmente la categoría seniors con estudiantes de noveno, décimo y undécimo.
La preparación para este gran evento comenzó en septiembre, donde todos los docentes del departamento de inglés y las maestras de preescolar presentaron las reglas y condiciones para participar en el concurso de deletreo. Todos los estudiantes debían preparar un listado completo de palabras alusivas al vocabulario trabajado en las clases de inglés. Durante el concurso, los profesores realizaron rondas de eliminación para escoger solo un participante por curso.
En el día del evento, contaron con 53 participantes muy bien preparados y emocionados por ser parte de este concurso. Tres jurados externos al colegio, de tres editoriales diferentes, evaluaron la experticia de todos los deletreadores para garantizar objetividad y transparencia. La jornada transcurrió sin inconvenientes, y cada estudiante demostró su talento y habilidad para deletrear todas las palabras sin dudar. La elección de los ganadores fue difícil, ya que todos estaban muy bien preparados y deseaban ganar.
Esta experiencia ha sido muy grata para los estudiantes del Colegio Agustiniano Norte, evidenciando el creciente interés por participar y demostrar sus habilidades y gusto por el idioma inglés. Los docentes se sienten gratificados al ver el entusiasmo y la motivación que los alumnos muestran en este tipo de actividades y competencias.
Como comunidad educativa, esperan seguir incentivando a todos aquellos que aman los idiomas a perfeccionar su competencia comunicativa a través de la lectura, el arte, la música y otros medios que permitan aprender de manera novedosa y atractiva.
Third Spelling Bee Contest 2023, Colegio Agustiniano Norte
On October 27, the third Spelling Bee Contest 2023 took place, involving students from all grades of the school, including the youngest participants, the preschoolers, who excelled in spelling words related to nature. The categories considered this year were four, classified as follows: Pre-starters for kindergarten and transition children, starters for first and second graders, movers for third, fourth, and fifth graders, flyers with the participation of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, and finally, the senior’s category with ninth, tenth, and eleventh graders.
Preparation for this significant event commenced in September, with all English department teachers and preschool teachers presenting the rules and conditions for participating in the spelling bee. Every student in the school had to prepare a comprehensive list of words related to the vocabulary successfully covered in English classes. Once the students participated by spelling the given words, teachers conducted rounds of elimination to select only one participant per course.
On the day of the event, 53 well-prepared participants were excited to be part of this contest. The judging panel comprised three individuals from outside the school, representing three different publishers, ensuring objectivity and transparency in evaluating the expertise of all spellers. The day unfolded smoothly, with each student showcasing their talent and ability to spell the words without hesitation. Choosing the winners proved challenging because all participants were well-prepared, and, most importantly, all were eager to win.
This experience has been highly enjoyable for the students of Colegio Agustiniano Norte, with an increasing number of children expressing interest in participating and demonstrating their abilities and enthusiasm for the English language. As teachers, it is truly gratifying to witness the interest and motivation displayed by all students in such activities and competitions.
